I had a form which appears in an iframe within an overlay div. I needed to implement the "I'm not a robot" reCaptcha into this form. This was a messy setup, because this reCaptcha also uses a overlay containing an iframe to display their "Select all images with XXXXXXX" photo grid. This grid would appear way off to the side, and was getting cropped in my form's iframe. In addition, it caused the form content to scroll up a bit.

This is one of my favorite types of projects. The client had an existing website built in Flash, and needed to convert it to HTML5. The old Flash site had a bunch of animated features, sliding objects, and fade effects.

I was able to reproduce the Flash features almost exactly, using a combination of techniques in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. In some places, the new features were an imporvement visually over the old Flash features.

Visitors to the site can search by location and business type, view a local map of their selections and what each offers, and print coupons. Businesses can run various reports on data such as the number of times each coupon appeared (impressions) and printed.

But there were few catches: First, the old site pages (over 100 of them) were managed by hand, and the new design had to be applied to each without affecting any of the functionality. Second, the new design needed to work in all modern browsers, as well as Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (which do not support many modern CSS design features). And third, the entire project needed to be completed in less than one month!

This was one of those projects I really get into. It involved building a fully functional room customizing application, where the user can select a room, choose a bed, furniture, appliances and extras, then drag-and-drop all the objects into the room, move them around and rotate for his/her ideal setup.

The customizer automatically checks for "illegal" moves, such as blocked doors, overlapping objects, and whether or not one object can be placed on top of another (such as a TV on top of a dresser). As you can imagine, there were a ton of variables and pitfalls to consider. But the result is a smoothly running HTML5 web application.
